The effects of grace.

4 But God, i who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ; ( by grace ye are saved;)

6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together min heavenly places, in Christ Jesus: 7 That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us, through Christ Jesus.

8 For by grace are ye saved, P through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of

God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

11 Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in the flesh who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;

12 That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from a the Covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

13 d But now, in Christ Jesus, ye, who sometimes were far off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ.

Salvation of the Gentiles. 14 For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;

15 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: 17 And came n and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

18 For P through him we both have access by one Spirit unto the Father.

19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellow-citizens with the saints, and of the household of God;

20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner-stone;

21 In whom all the building fitly framed together, groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together, for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

CHAP. III.

5 The hidden mystery, 6 that the Gentiles should be saved, 3 was made known to Paul by revelation: 8 and to him was that grace given, that 9 he should preach it. 13 He desireth them not to faint for his tribulation, 14 and prayeth 19 that they may perceive the great love of Christ toward them. OR this cause, I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,

2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God 2 which is given me to you-ward: 3 e How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery, as I wrote afore in few words;

4 Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ,

5 A Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

6 That the Gentiles m should be fellow-heirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

7 p Whereof I was made a minister, 7 according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by

the effectual working of his power.

Exhortations to

8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ;

9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, 3 which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 To the intent that now bunto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:

12 In whom we have boldness

and access with confidence by

the faith of him.

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and pin the power of his might.

11 4 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against trflesh and blood, but against s principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the dark. ness of this world, against spir. itual wickedness in high places.

13 u Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, y having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breast-plate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

21 But that ye also may know my affairs, and how I do, Tychicus, a beloved brother and faithful minister in the Lord, shall make known to you all things:

23 Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. 24 Grace be with all them that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

ΤΟ

THE PHILIPPIANS.

CHAP. I.

8 He testifieth his thankfulness to God, and his love toward them, for the fruits of their faith, and fellowship in his sufferings, 9 daily praying to him for their increase in grace: 12 he sheweth what good the faith of Christ had received by his troubles at Rome, 21 and how ready he is to gloTify Christ either by his life or death, 27 exhorting them to unity, 28 and to fortitude in persecution.

PAUL and Timotheus, the ser

vants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints 4 in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons :

26 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

3 cl thank my God upon every remembrance of you,

7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because | I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.

8 For God is my record, mhow greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.

9 And this I pray, "that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;

10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; Pthat ye may be sincere and without offence 9 till the day of Christ; 1 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.

12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;

13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;

14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.

19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,

20 According to my a earnest expectation, and my hope, that bin nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, 80 now also, Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.

23 Ford I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

24 Nevertheless, to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.

25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith; 26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.

27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind Istriving together for the faith of the gospel;

28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.

29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, Pnot only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;

30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and row hear to be in me.
