be done in earth, As it is in heaven.

Give us this

day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil. Amen.

L

Then may be said,

O God, make speed to save us.
O Lord, make haste to help us.

Then all standing, a Psalmf, as in Divine Service. Or if no Psalm is said, the Doxology may follow here.

Nunc Dimittis.

ORD, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace: according to thy word.

For mine eyes have seen : thy salvation.

Which thou hast prepared : before the face of all people;

To be a light to lighten the Gentiles : and to be the glory of thy people Israel.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son and

to the Holy Ghost;

:

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be: world without end. Amen.

Then all kneeling, the following Prayers; the
Master first saying,

The Lord be with you;

And with thy spirit.

Let us pray.

Lord, be merciful to us sinners :

And save us for thy mercy's sake.
Keep us as the apple of thine eye.

Hide us under the shadow of thy wings.

Appropriate Evening Psalms, iv. xxxi. xci. cxii. cxxv. cxxxiv.

Lord, teach us to number our days.
That we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.
O Lord, hear our prayer.

And let our crying come unto thee.

Then the Collect for the day, after which the Collects
following.

For Inspiration.

LORD, from whom all good things do come; Grant to us thy humble servants, that by thy holy inspiration we may think those things that be good, and by thy merciful guiding may perform the same; through our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. For Protection.

LORD, who never failest to help and govern them whom thou dost bring up in thy stedfast fear and love; Keep us, we beseech thee, under the protection of thy good providence, and make us to have a perpetual fear and love of thy holy Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

For Holiness.

GOD, whose blessed Son was manifested that

he might destroy the works of the devil, and make us the sons of God, and heirs of eternal life; Grant us, we beseech thee, that having this hope, we may purify ourselves, even as he is pure; that, when he shall appear again with power and great glory, we may be made like unto him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where with thee, O Father, and thee, O Holy Ghost, he liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

If there are any prayers or Thanksgivings proper for the day, they may be inserted here or substituted for one or more of those that follow.

For the Queen and Royal Family.

LORD our God, who upholdest and governest all things in heaven and earth; receive our humble prayers, for our Sovereign Lady Victoria, set over us by thy grace and providence to be our Queen; and so together with her bless Adelaide the Queen Dowager, The Prince Albert, the Prince of Wales, and all the Royal Family; that they all, ever trusting in thy goodness, protected by thy power, and crowned with thy gracious and endless favour, may continue before thee in health, peace, joy, and honour, and may live long and happy lives upon earth, and after death obtain everlasting life and glory in the kingdom of heaven, by the Merits and Mediation of Christ Jesus our Saviour, who with the Father and the Holy Spirit, liveth and reigneth ever one God, world without end.

For the Clergy and People.

Amen.

ALMIGHTY and everlasting God, who alone

workest great marvels; Send down upon our Bishops, and Curates, and all Congregations committed to their charge, the healthful Spirit of thy grace; and that they may truly please thee, pour upon them the continual dew of thy blessing. Grant this, O Lord, for the honour of our Advocate and Mediator, Jesus Christ. Amen.

THE THANKSGIVINGS.

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, And to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High.

H

To shew forth thy loving kindness in the morning, And thy faithfulness every night.

Blessed art thou, O Lord, in the firmament of Heaven, and greatly to be praised, glorious, and highly exalted for ever. Praised be the name of the Lord, from the rising up of the sun to the going down thereof.

Praised be the Lord daily.

Who holdeth our souls in life,
And suffereth not our feet to slip.

Concluding Prayer.

Amen.

ALMIGHTY and Everlasting God, who dost

govern all things in heaven and earth; Mercifully hear the supplications of thy people, and grant us thy peace all the days of our life; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Benedictory Prayer.

THE Blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, be upon us, and remain with us for ever. Amen.

WEDNESDAY.

THE DAY OF THE BETRAYAL OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR, AND HIS TEMPTATION.

Morning Prayer.

¶ At the beginning of Morning Prayer, the Master of the Family may read the following Sentences, unless there are any proper for the day.

THE

HE sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise. Ps. li.

Rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. Joel ii.

OW seeing that all they are accursed who do

Now

err and go astray from the commandments of God; let us return unto our Lord God, with all contrition and meekness of heart; bewailing and lamenting our sinful life, acknowledging and confessing our offences, and seeking to bring forth fruits [meet for repentance.]

The General Confession may then be said, or else

the following.

MOST mighty God, and merciful Father, who hast compassion upon all men, and hatest nothing that thou hast made; who wouldest not the death of a sinner, but that he should
