It is good to give thanks unto the Lord:
And to praise His Holy Name.

Let us give glory, to our God:

And magnify him with thanksgivings.

Benedictory Prayer.

Thy Blessing be upon us for ever, O God, through our Lord Jesus Christ thy Son, by whom and with whom in the unity of the Holy Ghost all honour and glory be unto thee, O Father Almighty, world without end. Amen.

Evening Prayer.

At the beginning of Evening Prayer, let the Master of the Family read the following sentences, unless there are any proper for the day.

HOW amiable are thy dwellings, thou Lord of Hosts; Blessed are they that dwell in thy house, they shall be always praising thee. Ps. lxxxiv.

We beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you; and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves. 1 Thess. v.

Then all kneeling,

Lord, have mercy upon us.
Christ, have mercy upon us.

Lord, have mercy upon us.

Then the Lord's Prayer to be said by all.

UR Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy Name. Thy kingdom come.

Thy will be done in earth, As it is in heaven. Give us this

day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation; But deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, The power, and the glory, For ever and ever.

Amen.

O thou who didst this day create the light and enlighten the world;

Glory be to Thee, O Lord.

O thou who didst this day bring again from the dead our Lord Jesus Christ;

Glory be to Thee, O Lord.

O thou who didst this day send down thy Holy Spirit ;

Glory be to Thee, O Lord.

Then all standing up.

This is the day which the Lord hath made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost;

As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be; world without end.

Then the Master of the Family may read a Lesson, or whatever his custom is to read; after which the following Canticle, or else a Hymn may be said or sung.

GREAT is our Lord, and great is his power :

yea, and his wisdom is infinite.

The Lord setteth up the meek and bringeth the ungodly down to the ground.

Let thy hand be upon the man of thy right hand and upon the son of man whom thou madest so strong for thine own self.

cxxxiv.

And so will not we go back from thee: O let us live, and we shall call upon thy Name.

¶ Then all kneeling, the following Sentences and Prayers; the Master first saying,

The Lord be with you.

And with thy spirit.

Let us pray.

Make me a clean heart, O God.
And renew a right spirit within me.
Cast me not away from thy presence :
And take not thy Holy Spirit from me.
O give me the comfort of thy help again :
And stablish me with thy free Spirit.
Into thine hands I commend my Spirit:
For thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, thou God
of truth.

For the Grace of the Holy Spirit.

GOD, who didst teach the hearts of thy faithful

people, by the sending to them the light of thy Holy Spirit; Grant us by the same Spirit to have a right judgment in all things, and evermore to rejoice in his holy comfort; through the merits of Christ Jesus our Saviour, who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

Collect for Preservation.

E beseech thee Almighty God, mercifully to look upon thy people; that by thy great

goodness they may be governed and preserved evermore, both in body and soul; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

After which the following.

RANT, we beseech thee, Almighty God, that the words, which we have heard this day with our outward ears, may through thy grace be so grafted inwardly in our hearts, that they may bring forth in us the fruit of good living, to the honour and praise of thy Name.

Let thy fatherly hand, we beseech thee, ever be over us; let thy Holy Spirit ever be with us; and so lead us in the knowledge and obedience of thy Word, that in the end we may obtain everlasting life; through our Lord Jesus Christ, who with thee and the Holy Ghost liveth and reigneth, ever one God, world without end. Amen.

THANKSGIVINGS.

Let us give thanks unto the Lord :
And forget not all his benefits.

ALMIGHTY God, and heavenly Father, who,

of thine infinite love and goodness towards us, hast given to us thy only and most dearly beloved Son Jesus Christ, to be our Redeemer, and the Author of everlasting life; who, after he had made perfect our redemption by his death, and was ascended into heaven, sent abroad into the world his Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Doctors, and Pastors; by whose labour and ministry he gathered together a great flock in all the parts of the world, to set forth the eternal praise of thy
