FOR behold, the day cometh which shall burn as a furnace;

And all that do wickedness, shall be stubble.

For it shall not leave them root or branch.

But unto you that fear my name,

Shall the sun of righteousness arise, † with healing in his wings.

And ye shall go forth, and thrive, as bullocks of the stall.

And ye shall tread down the wicked: for they shall be as dust

Under the soles of your feet,

In the day which I shall appoint;

Saith Jehovah God of hosts.

CHAP. IV.

-as dust] Some say that here is an allusion to the treading of mortar, made one part of sand and two of ashes. Harmer i. 179. 4. Remember] This precept well suits the last of the prophets. o. Ar. place this v. after v. 5. 6. and it forms as apt a
