Strengthen me, O LORD, that so I may not languish in fruitless and unavailing forrow; but that I may confider from Whofe Hand all good and evil are received, and may remember that I am punished for my fins, and hope for comfort only by repentance. Grant, O merciful GOD, that by the affistance of Thy HOLY SPIRIT, I may truly repent, meekly submit, be effectually comforted, obtain that peace which the world cannot give, pass the refidue of my life in humble refignation, and cheerful obedience, and when it fhall please Thee to call me from this mortal ftate, refign myself into Thy Hands with Faith and Confidence, and finally obtain a portion in Thine everlasting glory, for the fake of JESUS CHRIST our LORD. Amen.

O LORD GOD, Who, by all the changes and chances of this mortal life doft put us in mind of our tranfitory condition, and the shortness of our abode here; give me grace to fet myself seriously about the work of falvation, while the day of falvation lafteth; that when the night of death cometh, and our LORD fhall call me to account,

O bleffed JESU, Who hadft compaffion on the thief, even at the hour of death, have mercy upon me, who now repent of all my grievous mifdoings. Suffer not the gates of Paradife to be fhut against me when I die, Thou that haft opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.

Apply to my foul all the wholesome medicines of Thy Paffion, Death, and Refurrection, against the power of Satan, against all unreasonable fears and despair, and ease my fearful confcience.

Hear the prayers of Thy Church for me, and for all in my condition, for Thine own merits' and mercies' fake. Amen.

Give me that fincere and earnest repentance to which Thou haft promised mercy and pardon. Wean my heart from the world, and all its fading vanities; and make me to pant after those more excellent and enduring joys which are at Thy Right Hand for ever. LORD, lift Thou up the Light of Thy Countenance upon me: in all the pains of my body, and all the agonies of my fpirit, let Thy comforts refresh my foul, and enable me to wait patiently till my change come.

And grant, O LORD, that when mine earthly house of this tabernacle is diffolved, I may have a building of GOD, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens: and that for His fake, Who, by His precious death hath purchased for all believers a fure and certain title to everlasting life, JESUS CHRIST, Thine only Son, our LORD. Amen.

Almighty GoD, the fountain of all wisdom, Who knoweft our neceffities before we afk, and our ignorance in asking;
