Memoirs of a Jew who was born in Slovakia in 1930. Pt. 1 (p. 5-69) describes his experiences in the Holocaust. In 1937 he and his parents moved to Prague, but they divorced soon after. The German occupation in 1938 was immediately followed by physical attacks on Jews and the implementation of anti-Jewish laws. In March 1940 he and his mother fled to her family in Yugoslavia, where she remarried; however, in April 1941 the Germans arrived there as well. In August 1942 the family was sent to a transit camp, but Ben-Amnon escaped with the help of an underground member, and went into hiding. He was permitted by the Nazis to join his father and step-mother in Bratislava; after the failure of the Slovak uprising in 1944 they hid in the forests until the liberation. After the war Ben-Amnon emigrated to Eretz Israel.
